What's new on the home-front!

Wow...it has been TOO long since I posted!

My excuse "I didn't have new photos to post along with my words". I think a picture is worth a thousand words... I love seeing pictures. I am a true "visual".

Robel is fabulous. Everyone who meets him...wants one! We have been so blessed. He is kind and sweet and loving and good to his younger sibs.

Deonna, Angelia & Michael have really settled back into their normal selves this week. Hallelujah! They were so moody, naughty and annoying last week. I barely survived all the time outs and reminders to be good and not to hit. Yikes. I tell you, Sunday night I was scared...but they have proven me wrong. YAY!

Deonna is soon to start gymnastics. One hour session each week. She has always wanted to and I think now is as good a time as ever. She is hilarious because she can hardly stay upright while walking but can climb and balance like a pro. I think she'll really do well.

I am going to have foot surgery on August 19th to remove a cyst on the second toe on my right foot. YIKES! They will remove the whole cyst...skin included, and part of the joint as well as move some of the skin up. I will be off my foot for 3-4 days with my foot up. Mom is coming to help me with the kids. Then a walking shoe or something like that for 4 weeks. Yikes. I cannot get it wet those first 4 weeks either. Yum.

Speaking of my mom...she was trying to learn some words in Amharic yesterday. As she butchered "you are handsome"...Robel realized what she was saying and almost fell over laughing at how she slaughtered the words. We all laughed so hard. He loves it when we try and learn "his words". I am proud of my mom for trying!

Robel is learning so much! He responds well to most of the things we say to him...every now and then he gets a confused look and then responds with gesters. He is a sweetie. We all love him very much!

Michael is getting pudgey!!! We've decided he either needs to grow 6 inches or stop eating so much. We realized this now that it is swimsuit season. I guess we should have started watching what he was eating sooner. Yikes. Now to watch his portions.

Angelia is a turkey. She is either telling me how much she loves me, giving me a hug, calling me her friend OR crying and throwing a tantrum. Yikes. She keeps me on my toes for sure.

Tonight I am getting my hair done. I am going to tell Susie (my baby sister/cosmetologist) that I want it cute and flirty...something shorter I think...with new highlights. I'll post a photo.

So...the kids' movie is coming to an end. I'll post photos soon. I have some on my camera from my mom's house yesterday...but I forgot my camera there! I had to blog anyway!

We've had fun playing with Susie and her kids, playing in our backyard pool or the one we got for mom's house. We are having a fun summer.

I am going to plan out the next 6 weeks with library trips, zoo trips, etc to keep us busy for not a lot of money...ie: Monday: zoo Tuesday: mom's Wednesday: library Thursday: (I'll take ideas) ??? Friday: family swim at community pool. Robel actually likes us being busy too...less time to think of Ethiopia and miss his friends and family.

:)

  1. Sounds fun! I want to come for Monday zoo trips! I have a craft day once a week with the kids. Sometimes they like it, and sometimes they don't. They seem to enjoy more the crazy things that do not involve cutting paper or gluing anything. Wouldn't it be great if the whole family learned Amharic? Count me in. Not sure how that would work being so far away, but I can dream. And you have more surgeries than anyone I know! I feel for ya! Hope it all goes well!
