Ever since we met, Robel has called me "Mom". I love it. It makes me happy. He reserved "Mommy" for his special nanny at the WACAP house (orphanage in Ethiopia). I understood.
However the past few days, Robel has started calling ME "Mommy". I love it so much. It means I am more than just the woman who cares for him...I am his mommy.
Each night we read scriptures to the kids and then pray together, kneeling in a circle, holding hands. Before the prayer is said we say what we are thankful for (thanks Kevin & Kelly for this idea). Last night Robel said "I am thankful for Mommy, food". Wow...I rank up there with food! Yippee.
I titled this blog as I love you Mommy for another reason too. My Mom is amazing and a blessing in my life.
Now that my children are older and potty trained she really is involved in my childrens' lives. I love it. She stops by with cookies, randomly and for no other reason than that she was thinking about them. She calls to see if she can take one of them over night or better yet...both girls for 10 days while we were in Ethiopia. I love it because she gets a glimpse into my daily life and then we relate better too.
Last week she was my Godsend!!! I had toe surgery on Wednesday morning and she arrived the night before. She asked me what I would like for dinner the next night and together we prepped for her amazing Beef Stroganoff. Yum. She stayed with us until Saturday morning when she then took our children home with her. She made sure I ate, I always had fresh ice under my foot, my children were fed, and happy. She went above and beyond and I know she was tired but she kept taking care of all of us until she fell into bed each night and as she woke to the kids stomping, yelling and otherwise being noisy beginning at 6am without too much complaint. My mother is an amazing nurse by trade and by nature. She takes extra special care of her patients. I am thankful for her and her talents. I'd like to say "I love you, Mommy".

That is so true; your mom is an awesome nurse. It was good to have her here when Trent was born. I was just thinking today how terrible it was that we had to put a mattress on the living room floor for her to sleep on. We need a guest room.
