Oh my heavens...my life is not my own. I thought raising three babies at once was tough. No so, my friends. A puppy is so much, constant work.
Don't get me wrong...I LOVE my Dusty...but oh man I am TIRED!!!
So, yesterday I bought my 3rd set of gates for my hallway and entry to dining room. I don't think I will sell this set...I will just keep them! I love them though...even the kids can open them and walk through but now Dusty does not have free reign of the house!
Wednesday night I went to bed at 5:30pm! I have been so exhausted. I woke up yesterday morning at 6:15am and went downstairs to start my day only to land in a huge pile of puppy poop at the bottom of the stairs...then I was ticked. Had Daniel left it there for me to face first thing in the morning. When I asked/accused him he was insulted. Somehow in the dark he had gone to bed and MISSED the lovely pile. Better me than him since a puppy was my idea.
Immediately I found gates on Craigslist and drove to Hillsboro to pick them up. I have also changed Dusty's food to an organic brand without fillers and byproducts! I am hoping he won't need to poop 6 times a day once we are on it full time.
Dusty is smart & sweet & fun! I love him so much! Can't wait for my sweet, loving loyal dog to emerge from this beast known as a puppy.
Now Marcy, I am sure you are laughing your butt off...I know I know...
I just have to remember that when Dusty barks that he either needs out to go potty, wants to play or is tired. Yikes. I need to remember to error on the side of caution. Always take him out to go potty then play or nap him.
All this said I wouldn't trade him for nothing! He is a love and I am happy I made this decision to have a puppy. Now for a nap!

Min..you know me so well! Don't worry this will all be over soon.
ReplyDeleteDo you kennel Dusty at night? He will learn to not poop & pee in it over time. He will at first and then stop. Trust me. Kennels are compared to a security blankets for kids.
Potty him right before bed & then send him to the kennel. He will get the routine rather quickly and you will have your sanity.
You have to set boundries for him just like the children...
Oh, I could go on..but good luck. You are doing well. All us dog owners have been through this. : )
A Kennel is the ONLY way for a puppy. Gives them a sence of security especially since he was weened so early. They are work, but so are children! And that unconditional love is priceless, from both puppeis and children!
ReplyDeleteWow... I think kids may be easier. ;)
ReplyDeleteOK, Minners, this is funny. WELCOME!!!
ReplyDeleteMe I think animals are worth the work big surprise huh. Glad you've joined the crowd. Have fun. Mine is getting old and cranky, but I still wouldn't give him up.
