Meeting Tedi (Robel's older brother)

Saturday, June 27th
We had a wonderful and emotional morning. We went back to the WACAP house to visit Robel. He was very excited to see us again and ran up to us to give us a hug and a kiss. I loved it!

Then we had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Robel's older brother, who was his guardian after their parents passed away. He traveled down from Kombolcha to visit with Robel and to meet us. Before we came to Ethiopia we were praying and hoping to be able to meet him. It was a truly wonderful and unforgettable experience. You could tell that he loves his younger brother very much. He gave us pictures of some family members and of Robel, including a baby picture from when he was 40 days old. He also gave us a formal native outfit that he had for Robel. One of the pictures showed Robel in the outfit about a year ago. We also exchanged contact information, which will allow the brothers to keep in contact for many years to come.

It was quite an emotional time for us and the visit was not near as long as we would have wanted it to be. However, we do get to bring Robel back to the where we are staying tomorrow and he will be with us from that point on. Then we will visit with his brother again on Tuesday for Robel to say good-bye.

Tonight we went to the Crown Hotel and enjoyed an Ethiopian buffet and beautiful dancing and fun music. Daniel even got up and danced! :) It was a really fun evening.

I am full of thoughts this morning. I cannot believe it is finally the day that our handsome son joins us forever. It is so hard to imagine what he is going through emotionally. I want to communicate with him to tell him it's okay to cry and to be sad and to be happy all at the same time. We truly believe that his brother Tedi has made the greatest sacrifice to let him be adopted and to have an opportunity to learn and grow and have a college education. Robel wants to be a doctor and we have promised Tedi that he will go to college. Course, we hope all of our children will.

I am thinking of how he will look in his new jammies and if he will want to sleep with us or beside us on his own bed. We want him to be comfortable and happy. He is such a sweet child and eager to please. You should see him with the younger children especially the babies...they know him! He is a very loving child and he tolerates my kisses and hugs and touches, he may even like them a bit. :) He'll have to get used to it as I am a snuggly, touchy, feely person. I cannot believe he will be in this very room where we are at right now tonight and home with us in less than a week. Yahoo!
