Life happens

We have had a few busy weeks.  Robel played in adjudications for my Mom's piano studio and both Robel and Deonna played in her Spring recital yesterday!  They did great!!!  We have a few new routines in our family such as no breakfast until Robel & Deonna have each practiced their piano 5x each.  After school our kids get a snack and then everyone does their chores...including mom.  It makes for a nice clean house for Daniel to come home to and for us to wake up to.  It is a beautiful thing!

With the time change we have all had some adjusting to do.  Our kids go to bed at 7pm and it is still light out now.  Try explaining to 4 & 5 year olds that it isn't earlier...it is just lighter.  Ya, doesn't work out too well.  Our girls' venetian blinds fell down and broke last fall and I haven't replaced them mostly because I thought we were moving and then it was so dark at bedtime there was no need.  So, I was shopping for room darkening blinds and then just couldn't get over the sticker shock...so, I went to my fabric box and found adorable fabric that a friend of mine gave me a couple years ago and decided to make curtains for them.  I lined them with a hot pink flat sheet (for those of you without kids...flat sheets are for the birds for little ones).  I also moved the boys' mini blinds into the girls' room as they do have a room darkening shade.  Here is how the curtains turned out...ADORABLE!

Robel and Daniel have been making their first Pinewood Derby Car together for Cub Scouts and they have had a really good time doing so.  We have also recruited Jayden to our troop and he joined in the fun too!

  1. Very cute curtains! Nice way to save some dough, too. :)

You know what's really pathetic? The Cub Scouts here don't do Pinewood Derby because "the kids get too competitive". How ridiculous is that? The problem is that the parents don't want their kids not to win because ... I have to stop now. I was about to go on a Utah parenting rant. I'm over it now. Too bad for Cameron, though.
